I would understand that that would be a big problem in a action or shooting game where the combat system is pivotal but not in a survival horror. And we also need to consider that in a survival horror a clumsy combat system could be inherent in it and an element that might increase the anxiety. The only downside was the combat system, ok sometimes it was a bit annoying but that was the only problem. Also you could combine all the items in the inventory and use it strategically. Wherever you went they made you reflect and use your creativity in order to progress in the game or fight enemies. The puzzles were very contextual and all disseminated in the environment and I believe that that was the best part that made the game innovative. I loved the horror atmosphere, the gameplay and the story. I played it long time ago and I can say that is still one of the best survival horror I have ever played.
